Meta removes scam ads after India flags explicit-content bait luring users to download phishing apps

Meta removed fraudulent ads from Facebook and Instagram after India flagged scams with baits of explicit content while promoting malicious apps. The apps could steal users’ credentials, OTPs and bank PINs. Cyber fraud losses in India reached $2.4 billion in 2025.
